What the Gang of Perverts (GOP) Needs to Do Next
In its story, G.O.P. Debate: A Broader Party or a Purer One?, the NYT's writes:
"A fundamental debate broke out among Republicans on Wednesday over how to rebuild the party in the wake of Senator Arlen Specter’s departure: Should it purge moderate voices like Mr. Specter and embrace its conservative roots or seek to broaden its appeal to regain a competitive position against Democrats?"
I have a better idea. Just retire. Move to Florida. Pick up a few hobbies (that aren't illegal, immoral).
The world has moved on to the 21st Century and left the GOP behind.

Investor Education - More Important Now than Ever
Just stumbled across a new site, Portfolio Strategy News, that I I like.
In his post, Where will the new jobs come from?, Kevin Mahn writes:
"November 2008 was witness to 533,000 jobs being lost in the United States. This represented the biggest single month reduction in jobs in over 30 years and brought the unemployment rate to 6.7% - the highest level it has reached since 1974. These statistics should not come as a surprise and just confirms what many of us already know; we are in a recession that is likely to last through, at least, the first two quarters of 2009. Job losses will likely continue to mount and those individuals already out of work will likely find it increasingly difficult to find a new job."
There's often gloomy news on this site, but I figure it's better to know than to be an ostrich with your head in the sand. Right?

Searching for Catherine Bautista
Does anyone know where I can find Catherine Bautista? I lost track of her circa 1992 and I'd love to speak with her and find out what she grew up to be. Last I heard she was a nurse and living in San Francisco, probably in Noe Valley.
I've googled her name every now and then, but nothing ever shows up. How is it possible to not leave some sort of footprint on the Internet?
Here's the only picture of her that I could find:

I found this pic of her on the Pollo del Mare website. I think she used to dance for them.
If anyone knows where I might find her, please shoot me an email at searching4catherine (at) yahoo (dot) (com).
Thanks!

Identitty theft is the least of our concerns
There's been a lot of ink on the subject of identity theft. The real, bigger, problem is identity fraud.
Check out Identity Theft = the tip. Identity Fraud = the iceberg.
"A growing number of organizations are starting to realize that by resolving identity fraud – at the point of sale/return and even internally by looking closely at potential employees – they can head off a major source of risk and the resulting losses. To businesses, minimizing those losses can add up to 2% to the top line. And, of course to the government it can mean saving countless lives."
